QC Government Advance Good Governance through Strategic Planning and Budget Alignment Training
The Quezon City Government, in partnership with Quezon City University and the Barangay and Community Relations Department (BCRD), successfully conducted another session of the Speaker Feliciano R. Belmonte Jr. School of Good Governance Certificate Course on Public Finance on July 24, 2026, focusing on Planning and Budget Alignment of Barangay Budgets.
The training equipped barangay officials with practical knowledge on aligning development plans with budget priorities, reinforcing the importance of strategic planning and responsible fiscal management in delivering responsive public service.
Serving as resource speakers were Dir. Anna Bonagua and Ms. Anna Quibot of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), who shared key principles and best practices in preparing budgets that reflect community priorities and support sustainable local development. Their discussions highlighted how well-planned and properly aligned budgets enable local governments to translate development goals into programs and services that directly benefit their constituents.
Throughout the session, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the role of planning in effective governance, recognizing that responsible budgeting goes beyond financial allocation; it is a commitment to ensuring that public resources are used efficiently, transparently, and in ways that address the needs of the community.
The activity also emphasized the vital role of barangay leaders in making informed, evidence-based decisions that maximize available resources while promoting accountability and long term community development.
