The oath-taking took place during the Council’s 93rd General Membership Assembly on March 13, 2026, held at the Philippine International Convention Center.

The event, organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-NRCP), gathered researchers and scientists from across the country under the theme “Transdisciplinary Capacity Building and Ethical Research Towards a Progressive, Unified, and SDG-Driven Nation.”

The conference emphasized the importance of transdisciplinary collaboration, ethical research practices, and the translation of knowledge into meaningful societal impact. In her welcome message, NRCP President Dr. Maria Louise Antonette N. De Las Peñas highlighted the need for research to be anchored in societal needs and designed for impact, stressing that the future of the Council lies in its members.

DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr. underscored the importance of ensuring that research outputs are not only produced but also utilized, noting that the value of research is reflected in its visibility, citation, and application for public benefit. He called on researchers to move beyond disciplinary boundaries and contribute to innovation and national development while upholding integrity and accountability.

Former DOST Secretary Dr. Fortunato T. de la Peña emphasized the need to break down disciplinary silos and strengthen collective efforts to advance science and innovation. Panel discussions further highlighted the importance of building collaborative capacity and integrating diverse knowledge systems in addressing national challenges.

The program also included the General Membership Assembly Business Meeting, where the NRCP President reported on the Council’s accomplishments and ongoing initiatives, and the NRCP Treasurer presented the organization’s financial status. Upcoming activities and priority programs were likewise discussed to guide member engagement.

A highlight of the event was the conduct of the putong ceremony, a traditional Filipino rite symbolizing honor and formal recognition, which reflected the Council’s appreciation of its members and their contributions to research and nation-building.

The conference concluded with scientific sessions, recognition ceremonies, and networking activities to strengthen collaboration among researchers and institutions nationwide.
