QCU Procures Eco-Friendly Drinking Fountains to Expand Safe Water Access

SDG 6

Quezon City University (QCU) has procured its first batch of eco-friendly drinking fountains, marking the start of a campus-wide initiative to provide safe and sustainable drinking water for students, faculty, and staff. The newly purchased units, set to be installed by 2025, will be placed in key locations across QCU buildings and campuses.

The Kooler Iceberg Eco fountains feature a cooling capacity that can dispense up to 25 glasses of water consecutively and a service capacity equivalent to 500 bottles (5 gallons) every three days. Each unit has a three-stage purification system (sediment filter, CTO filter, UF membrane) to guarantee water quality, and is made from recycled stainless steel with an energy-efficient brine tank cooling system—underscoring QCU’s commitment to sustainability and its alignment with SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

This procurement is only the beginning. By 2025, QCU plans to install more than 10 additional units, ensuring that every building and campus is equipped with drinking fountains to serve the entire student population. The initiative not only promotes health and well-being but also reduces reliance on single-use plastic bottles, reinforcing QCU’s role as a green and student-centered university.
