QCU COE’s “PIONEER 2025, to Champion Innovation and Research Excellence

SDG 4 9 17

The Quezon City University (QCU) College of Engineering (COE) successfully held its much-anticipated annual research conference, “PIONEER 2025”, at the university auditorium on May 2, 2025.

With the theme “Providing Innovative Opportunities To Nurture Engineering Education Through Research,” the event served as a vibrant platform for Electronics Engineering and Industrial Engineering students, faculty, and researchers to showcase cutting-edge projects and promote a culture of academic inquiry and innovation.

An opening message was delivered by Dr. Randel D. Estacio, Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, while University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza offered an inspiring address, both underscoring the pivotal role of research in elevating engineering education and driving societal progress.

The morning session featured two insightful plenary talks, where invited speakers tackled timely topics in engineering research and innovation. These were complemented by dynamic open forums, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers, followed by an awarding ceremony to honor their contributions.

In the afternoon, parallel research presentation sessions took place in two designated venues—IK 203 for ECE students and IK 303 for IE students. Each session showcased six student researchers, presenting innovative solutions to various engineering challenges, from sustainable technologies to process optimization. The presentations highlighted the ingenuity and dedication of QCU’s young innovators.

PIONEER 2025 achieved its objectives of not only highlighting student research but also inspiring a research-driven culture within the university. The conference provided students with valuable exposure to the broader academic community, encouraging collaboration across disciplines and boosting confidence in pursuing research-based careers.

Beyond showcasing research outputs, PIONEER 2025 reaffirmed QCU’s commitment to nurturing innovation, creativity, and scholarly excellence. By empowering student researchers and integrating research more deeply into the engineering curriculum, the event played a significant role in preparing future engineers to contribute meaningfully to their fields and society at large.
