QCU Students Benefit from Quezon City Government’s QCity Bus “Libreng Sakay” Program
Students of Quezon City University (QCU) continue to benefit from the QCity Bus “Libreng Sakay” program of the Quezon City Government, an initiative designed to provide free and reliable transportation for daily commuters, particularly students, workers, and residents from low-income households.
The program, implemented under the leadership of Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte, supports the city’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 1.3.3 — ensuring social protection and support systems that enable equitable access to education and essential services. Through this initiative, QCU students save on transportation costs while enjoying safer and more comfortable travel to and from campus.
As of June 14, 2024, the updated QCity Bus route schedule includes extended coverage from Quezon City Hall to General Luis, with major designated stops along Commonwealth Avenue, Novaliches Proper, and a key stop directly in front of the QCU San Bartolome Campus. This route directly benefits hundreds of daily student commuters who previously relied on multiple
transfers or costly alternative transport.
The QCity Bus Libreng Sakay program exemplifies the city’s inclusive governance approach — integrating mobility, education, and social equity. It continues to make a tangible impact on the lives of QCU students, supporting their academic journey and contributing to the city’s broader goal of building a sustainable, student-friendly urban environment.
