QCU-GAD Partners with QCinema for Campus Tour 2025 to Advance Gender Awareness
The Quezon City University (QCU) Center for Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, in partnership with the QCINEMA International Film Festival, successfully held Campus Tour 2025, a vibrant initiative that brought the power of independent cinema to the QCU community.
As part of the tour, students were given the opportunity to watch “Billie and Emma,” an award-winning coming-of-age film that thoughtfully explores themes of love, identity, inclusivity, and gender awareness. The screening served as a meaningful platform for students to engage with narratives that reflect diverse lived experiences and challenge traditional gender norms.
Following the film, an open forum was held where participants shared personal reflections, asked questions, and engaged in discussions about gender sensitivity, social acceptance, and the role of media in shaping perspectives. The conversation highlighted the importance of fostering safe and inclusive spaces within the university—spaces where students can freely express themselves, learn from each other, and deepen their understanding of Gender and Development principles.
The event also strengthened QCU’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality, emotional well-being, and student empowerment through arts-based learning and community partnerships. It underscored the valuable role of film as a catalyst for education, empathy, and social transformation.
A warm thank you to all students, organizers, and partners who participated and helped make this celebration of independent cinema a resounding success. Your support continues to inspire initiatives that champion inclusivity, representation, and meaningful dialogue within the QCU community.
