SDG 4 4 17

Quezon City University (QCU) successfully organized its first-ever University Partners’ Day with the theme, “Sustainable Future, Shared Success: A Partnership for Positive Impact,” to celebrate the academe-industry partnerships developed in the past year and recognize its partners from the public, private, non-government, civil society, and academic sectors on December 13, 2023, at the QCU Auditorium, San Bartolome Main Campus.

More than 60 partner organizations were recognized during the event organized by the QCU Research, Extension, Planning, and Linkages –  Extension Management Office – Community Engagement Unit (REPL-EMO-CMU), in coordination with the Scholarship, Placement, and Alumni Relations Division (SPARD) and QCU Center for Urban Agriculture and Innovation (CUAI)

Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, QCU President, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the value of forging strong and sustainable partnerships with various stakeholders through community engagement and service learning activities to create a positive impact on our communities.

“It is not just recognizing the partnership, it is [also] recognizing the valuable role of our partners that contributes to the success of QCU,” she stated.

Coun. Julienne Allyson Rae V. Medalla of QC District 2 served as the keynote speaker of the event. The chairperson of the Council Committee of Education, Science, and Technology highlighted the significance of ensuring the shared success of the university and its partners to uplift the lives of our partner communities like what the QC government does.

“If you help your university, you’re also helping your local communities,” Coun. Medalla mentioned.

After the awarding of certificates, several partners gave a testimonial speech on the impact of partnering with QCU. Mr. Angelo C. Cayubit, Field Application Executive of Hytec Power Inc., extended his heartfelt gratitude to the university for the strong partnership between Hytec and QCU.  Mr. Cayubit acknowledged that academe-industry partnerships do not only bridge the gap between educational and practical experience but also create a foundation for a better future for students.

Alexis Gonzales, 2nd Year BSIT Student, Project BOLDER OSY completer, and former out-of-school youth; John Benedict Forbes, QCU alumnus and a Megaworld Foundation Scholar; and Ms. Ofelia Bagotlo, QCU Executive Course for Barangay Leaders on System Delivery Support for the Out-of-School Youth (BLeSDS) completer and President of AMLAC Ville Urban Gardeners,  shared their personal stories on how QCU empowered them to become a force of positive change to the community and their families.

In closing, Dr. Bradford Martinez shared his immense gratitude with the industry and community partners for their unwavering support and commitment towards excellence and sustainable development.
